Does plant stanol ester affect the absorption of fat soluble vitamins?

Plant stanol ester – the active ingredient in Benecol – doesn’t have any real effects on fat-soluble vitamin levels. While small reductions have been seen for some carotenoids including beta-carotene (which is converted into vitamin A in the body), levels still remain within normal reference values.

And any slight reductions can easily be compensated for by making sure you enjoy Benecol products as part of a healthy, balanced diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables – at least ‘5-a-day’ and including some orange and red varieties, like carrots, pumpkin, squash, apricots, tomatoes and mango.
