The simple steps that make a difference – David’s Cholesterol Journey

David's realisation about his high cholesterol levels came unexpectedly during a regular work day when his colleague happened to have a portable cholesterol monitor and offered to test him. To his surprise, the results indicated that his cholesterol levels were quite high.

Motivated by the sudden realisation of his health condition, David took immediate action. He began by incorporating small changes into his daily routine. One of the first steps he took was introducing Benecol into his diet. By swapping out other products with a Benecol alternative, David aimed to reduce his intake of saturated fats and improve his cholesterol level. He made a conscious effort to increase his consumption of fruit and veg.

Being a parent to a child with autism, David’s life is very hands-on. He saw an opportunity to incorporate physical activity into his family’s daily routine. They prioritised spending time outdoors, even if it meant a short visit to the local park. Engaging in activities that involved movement and being in nature not only benefited his son but also contributed to David’s own heart health.

After implementing these changes, David monitored his progress by getting regular blood tests. His hard work and commitment paid off when his latest blood test showed that his cholesterol had dropped below the desirable “5” mark once again. This result proved that the small changes he had made were making a difference.

Plant stanol ester has been shown to lower cholesterol. High cholesterol is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. The beneficial effect has been shown with a daily intake of 1.5-3.0g plant stanols, as part, of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
